The party was in full swing at Elland Road on Saturday tea-time. Leeds United had come from behind to defeat Bristol Rovers and secure promotion back to the Championship.
One man cut a lonely figure in the away team dressing room however. Paul Trollope had overseen a miserable run of results since the turn of the year as Rovers slumped from play-off contenders to mid table obscurity.
When you consider that they won just three from their last twelve games, an eleventh place finish is hardly surprising.
The former Welsh international couldn't hide his dismay though as he reflected on a season that promised much but ultimately delivered little.
"I'm an unhappy man because we dropped to 11th place for the first time after working hard to stay in the top 10," he said.
"To fall out of it on the last weekend is hard to take," added Trollope.
In truth, Rovers probably overachieved in the opening few months of the season. With expectations raised however, Trollope's troops simply ran out of steam.
Nevertheless he was able to take some comfort from the fact that despite a string of poor results at the tail end of the campaign, performance levels remained good.
"Our results in the last five or six games haven't been what we wanted.
"Although some of our performances within those games have been to a good level and in a number of them we've deserved more points."
