Southampton have made a bid for Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine, according to Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old has been sidelined with an ankle injury since the opening day of the season.
Saints’ manager Nigel Adkins is looking to bolster his ranks in order to secure back-to-back promotions and return to the Premier League.
Fontaine has made 210 appearances for the Robins since joining from Fulham in 2006.
