Bristol City have rejected an offer from an unnamed Championship club for striker Nicky Maynard.
The 24-year-old only managed six goals last campaign in a season blighted by a knee injury.
Maynard still has a year left on his current deal, but has not yet to put pen to paper.
However, Robins’ chairman Colin Sexstone is confident the striker will agree to an extension.
He said: "We are not in the business of selling our best players and we would certainly not sell to another Championship club.
"Nicky is an important part of manager Keith Millen's plans and we do not need to sell him, nor do we wish to.
“We have already offered him a new contract and remain confident he will sign.”
