A public relations agency in Bristol is celebrating a hat-trick this month after being nominated for three industry awards in as many months.

Palamedes PR, which is based on King Street, was shortlisted for the PRCA Award – dubbed the ‘Oscars of the PR industry’ – late last year for orchestrating the UK’s ‘Consumer PR Campaign of the Year’.

Within the space of a few weeks, it was nominated for a Consumer PR award at the prestigious Golden Hedgehogs – the winner of which will be announced later this month.

And last week, one of the agency’s clients, Monster Slippers, was shortlisted for the Transform Awards 2012 thanks to the success of an international PR campaign.

The Transform Awards is a European initiative designed to “recognise, benchmark and celebrate excellence” in brand transformation.

Jon Kirk, the firm’s Managing Director, said it was a “great honour” to receive the nominations but said he had “many more” in his sights.

“To be shortlisted for the PRCA and Golden Hedgehogs within the space of a few months is a great honour and a fantastic achievement in its own right,” he said.

“But I’m over the moon that the effort we put into the Monster Slippers campaign has also been recognised.

“The last 12 months have been amazing for Palamedes – we’ve won major accounts with some of the country's biggest brands and we have every intention of scooping many more awards hereafter.”

Founded in 2008, Palamedes PR has represented some of the UK’s largest companies including The Samaritans, The Kremlin Museum Service, The Russian Tourist Office, HarperCollins, Bath Rugby, and several five-star hotels.

It also represents a number of celebrities including the pop star, Sonique.

The agency specialises in generating media coverage, and its clients regularly appear in the national newspapers and on TV and radio.

It hit the headlines last year after issuing a story about Monster Slippers and a manufacturing error that left one customer with a giant 7ft slipper.

The story secured column inches across the world and led to a 27,000 per cent increase in web traffic to Monster Slipper's website. It also led to a nomination at last year’s PRCA Awards.

Its nomination for this year’s Golden Hedgehog Award stems from the coverage it obtained for dating websites ForgetDinner.co.uk and TheUglyBugBall.com.

The inaugural Golden Hedgehog PR Awards features 20 categories celebrating “outstanding” campaigns and “exceptional” talent across the UK.

Palamedes PR is one of eight agencies vying for the Consumer Campaign award within the Midlands, Wales and South Shortlist. The winner will be announced at the end of March at a glittering ceremony in Birmingham.

Mr Kirk added that he would also be “rooting for” client Monster Slippers in April's Transform Awards 2012.

The Essex-based company has been shortlisted in the “Best use of a visual property” category alongside four other nominees.
