A Bristol news agency has acquired a start-up public relations firm which offers a budget solution to businesses recovering from the recession.
South West News Service (SWNS), which provides news and pictures to the regional and national press, already owns two successful PR agencies.
It has now acquired an equity stake in Palamedes PR, an independent agency in Clifton which provides services from as little as £395.
SWNS partner Andrew Young says the acquisition could help local businesses as they emerge from the economic downturn.
He said: "The SWNS group already owns two PR agencies - 72 Point and Inside Media - which are leading the market in their respective fields of PR.
"But when the opportunity arose to bring Palamedes PR under the SWNS umbrella, we jumped at the chance.
"Palamedes PR has an impressive trading record, and we're confident that it will continue doing what it does best - generating significant press coverage for Bristol-based businesses."
Palamedes PR, which is based on Park Street, specialises in book, fashion, business, finance and sport PR.
Jon Kirk, the firm's managing director, said: "I'm delighted that Palamedes PR is now part of the SWNS group of companies, and I'm very excited about the future together."
